Security Begins When You Open Your Account

Whenever you open an account, your protection begins immediately. We require proper identification and verification to confirm the identity of all new account applicants.

We may also check credit information to verify that warnings have not been placed on credit bureau reports that might indicate fraud or identity take-over.

Count on Our Online Services Guarantee

If you suspect an unauthorized user has accessed your accounts online, you are 100% covered by our Online Services Guarantee.  This guarantee covers any funds removed from your personal deposit accounts, including loss of interest, insufficient funds and overdraft charges. All you need to do is contact us within sixty days of receiving the statement that contains the unauthorized electronic activity.

Banking online is an excellent way to stay on top of account activity and make sure all transactions are your own.  It's free to use Wachovia Online Banking with BillPay and it's an easy way to manage your finances.

Use Balance Alerts to Keep You Aware

Wachovia Balance Alerts is a free feature of Online Banking, and is a secure and convenient way to keep close tabs on your finances.  You can sign up to receive Daily Balance Alerts at the beginning of each business day, or sign up for Threshold Alerts, so that you are notified when your account balance goes above or below any amount that you specify.

Get Another Layer of Protection by using Check Cards

When you use your Wachovia Check Card instead of writing a check, your personal information such as your address, phone number, and driver's license number stay confidential.

Here are even more secure features of a Check Card:

  • If your card is ever lost or stolen and used without your permission, you're covered by Visa's Zero Liability policy1 that guarantees your account is safe from any unauthorized use of your card or account number.
  • When you authorize a vendor to use your Wachovia Visa Check Card to pay a bill, it's as secure as any Check Card purchase you make in person.
  • Easily view card transaction details on your monthly account statement and within Online Banking.

What to Do if It Happens to You?

If your accounts are compromised, you can be assured that Wachovia will take the necessary steps to resolve any issues.

At the first sign of fraud or identity theft, Wachovia will assign you to a Loss Management Specialist, who will work one-on-one with you until the problem is resolved.

We will also close and reissue compromised accounts as soon as you report a suspected fraud or identity theft.
